Our Personal Story

by Craig Logan, Founder

In our trial run we noticed an increase in participation, verbal expression and overall positive mood in groups that participated in our online programs.

We know it works! We see how healing can positively turn the most problematic scholars around.

We believe in this program and with the help and support we know we can forge positive and significant change. We have an opportunity to build the foundation of the next group of leaders in the communities we work in.

BIC programs are created from educational professional and advocates beginning with heal first. Healing can happen on many different BIC assess programming using tools from leading SEL educational advocates (CASEL).

What is Social Emotional Learning (SEL)?

SEL is tools and techniques to help students and adults process emotions and critical social skills. It includes everything from goal setting, to effective communication skills. These competencies assist youth and adults in authentically being themselves and operating in that space. SEL focuses around 5 competencies

1.    Self-Awareness

2.    Self-Management

3.    Social Awareness

4.    Relationship Skills

5.    Responsible Decision Making

Craig Logan, Founder Director

Craig Logan is an advocate for youth leadership, SEL, and healing.

Hailing from South Carolina, Logan found his calling in working with youth from a young age.  Studying at Charleston Southern University Craig graduated in 2011 with a B.S. in Sociology.

"I think socialism influences everything from education to the food we eat. It’s not right but it's real. We cannot neglect our social upbringing in the healing process.”

BIC was birth from experience and calling. Seeing the need for healing Craig devoted to creating spaces that were easy for healing to happen. Community circles are used to share experiences and talk through life as young adults and youth.

Craig is passionate about grassroots community work. Much of his career has been engaging in at-risk communities serving students and families.

Craig currently serves as the Vice President of the Chicora Neighborhood Association and is the Board Chair for Kids N Play, a nonprofit providing coding curriculum to scholars in the Charleston area.
